Left 4 Dead: Survivors
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All survivors possess the same abilities and speed. However, your in-game
personality will vary depending on which character you choose to play as.
Francis: Cocky, loud and pretty sure he is indestructible. Francis acts like
the zombie apocalypse is the world’s biggest bar fight. When the virus hit,
everybody else stockpiled food and looked for a place to hide. Francis found a
gun and had some fun. No cops, no laws, no order-if it wasn’t for all the
zombies, he could almost get used to a life like this.
Louis: Louis had been working up the courage to quit his job as Junior Systems
Analyst at his company’s IT department when a virus showed up and downsized
the world. Now Louis has a new set of goals (live long enough to succeed) and
a new set of tools (guns, sharp objects) to help him achieve them. With any
luck, he’ll figure out how the new management operates before they get a
chance to murder him.
Bill: It took two eventful tours in Vietnam, a handful of medals, a knee full
of shrapnel and an honorable discharge before the unthinkable happened. Bill
ran out of wars. But now an army of infected undead has declared war on
humanity. After decades of aimless drifting and dead-end jobs. Bill’s finally
gotten back the only thing he ever wanted. An enemy to fight.
Zoey: After spending her first semester holed up in a dorm room watching old
horror movies, Zoey was given a choice. Stop fooling around and get her grades
up, or drop out. Now that the planet’s overrun with murderous zombies, and all
of her professors are dead. Zoey at least has the cold comfort that she’s been
studying up on the right subject after all.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Left 4 Dead: Infected
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Non-Playable Infected:
The Horde – Meet the zombie horde: eerily fast, sensitive to loud noises and
movement, and able to attack in ravenous waves. Luckily, you’ll be given
helpful warnings throughout the game to avoid horde attacks.
Car Alarms: When shot at or jumped on, some cars emit a high-pitched wail that
will enrage any infected within earshot. You’ll be given warnings which cars
to steer clear of.
Boomer Bile: If there is one thing an Infected can’t resist, it’s fresh Boomer
puke. If a Boomer vomits or explodes bile on you, it will attract the horde.
Crescendo Events: At certain key areas in the game, you and your fellow
Survivors will reach an impassable area that can only be breached by doing
something attention-getting that will summon a horde of Infected.
The Witch – Witches only want to be left alone so they can enjoy a good cry.
They hate flashlights and loud noises, but what they really hare more then
anything is being shot at. If you hear the Witch’s tell tale sobs, turn off
your flashlights and try to sneak around her. If she starts to get angry,
her growl will let you know she’s close to attacking.
Playable Infected:
The Boomer – RT: Primary Attack, Vomit (Short to Medium Range)
LT: Secondary Attack, Claw (Short Range)
The Hunter – RT: Primary Attack, Pounce (Short to Long Range,
while crouching)
LT: Secondary Attack, Claw (Short Range)
The Smoker – RT: Primary Attack, Tongue Snare (Medium to Long Range)
LT: Secondary Attack, Claw (Short Range)
The Tank - RT: Primary Attack, Punch (Short Range)
LT: Secondary Attack, Throw (Short to Long Range)

Left 4 Dead: Tips
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. NEVER...and I mean NEVER go anywhere alone. This is much more
important on the higher difficulties such as expert where any attack by any
of the “special” Infected is an instant down.
2. Whenever you given even a second to breathe in this game, RELOAD
your guns. You simply never know when you will be attacked next and it is
very important that you have a full clip ready. Most important is the
shotgun because of the reload time.
3. When playing Multiplayer, if someone is purposely shooting you or
any other of your teammates, I do not care how obvious this should be, but
kick them from the game. I have seen this time and time again where people
let them stay in the game and this is a huge mistake.
4. Should you find yourself fighting against the TANK, do not get too
close to his arms. Also, even when you are out of his reach, when fighting
him in an enclosed space, always be watching where his arms are at. Should
they hit against something, like for example a pillar or a car, it will come
flying at you and instantly knock you down.
5. On EXPERT, not quite sure of the lower settings, DO NOT disturb the
Witch at any cost. Should she actually reach you, it is an automatic death.
That is right, just bypasses going down and you die.
6. When playing either on any difficulty, always have the last person
through any door close it behind you. It may not seem that important,
however, it will provide both a few seconds more from those Infected that
are following you and also an early warning against any that are immediately
right behind you.

Left 4 Dead: Weapons/Items
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Weapons:
1. Pistol - Your standard issue sidearm. It has unlimited ammo, and is
effective at mid range with a low density of enemies. You can dual-wield
pistols if you find another. Aim for the head for best results. Quickly tap
when duel-wielding the pistols to mow down the common Infected. Best if behind
the others that are using the other weapons.
2. Pump Action Shotgun - It is very effective at close range, what a shocker
right. The spread of the shells means it has the capability to take out several
infected at once. Watch out for the reload, though, if you run out of shells in
the clip you will only auto reload one shell if you try to fire. When reloading
best to crouch or move behind other members so they will still have a clear
shot at the Infected.
3. Submachine gun - A fully automatic gun, the submachine gun is good for
mowing down crowds at short to mid range. It's also good for taking out Smokers
from a distance. Personally not my favorite gun as it tends to run out of
ammunition faster than other weapons.
4. Auto Shotgun - The auto shotgun is a very powerful gun, good for taking
out Tanks and crowds of infected. It has two more rounds in the clip than the
pump shotgun, and reloads faster to boot. One main point of advice when using
this weapon, especially in multiplayer, do not shoot it while behind members
of your team. It has the same spread shot as the Pump Action Shotgun but
tends to do just a bit more damage which can prove problematic at key moments.
5. Hunting Rifle - It's a sniper rifle, need there be much more said? Use
it at long range to pop off heads of enemies for best results. You can zoom
in to help you aim better. Make sure to have someone else watching your back
when you are using it though, or be prepared for a possible world of hurt.
6. Assault Rifle - Use it like you would the Submachine gun. It packs a lot
more punch and is more accurate at long distances. Again, be careful of when
you use it, or I should say the amount that you use it. For you may very well
just run out of ammo right before you actually need it. *coughtankcough*
7. Molotov Cocktail - Toss it like a grenade, it's effective at clearing
out a small cluster of enemies. Watch out for flaming zombies running at you,
and be very mindful as to where you throw it. The fire may very well spread
to you more then you would have like.
8. Pipe Bomb - Amazing crowd control device. Throw it into a large crowd
of enemies and watch them cluster around the soft beeping noise that it emits.
Stand back away from it otherwise you will be hurt, if not simply outright
killed.
Items:
1. Health Pack - You can use this on yourself or a teammate. It will heal
80 points of health and will also stop a survivor from bleeding out. You can
only carry one at a time. If you have already been revived with the help of a
teammate it will reset the number of times that you can go down before dying.
2. Pain Pills - Like the health pack, you can only carry one at a time.
You can only use it on yourself, although you can give them to a teammate if
you so choose. It will temporarily boost your health by 50 points.

Walkthrough
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Okay, so how to make a walkthrough for a game that uses an AI Director that
“changes the zombies, effects and more to create a different experience every
time you play”? I will do my best by playing through each Campaign and Chapter
two to three times and figure out what is most common, giving you what I find
to be the most common or the “same” through each one.
Campaign – No Mercy
Chapter 1: The Apartments
At the Start of this Level you start on the top of the apartments. Make sure
to grab your FIRST AID KIT, and either the SUBMACHINE GUN or the PUMP-ACTION
SHOTGUN. For weapons it does not really matter which you choose, more really
just personal preference.
When EVERYONE is ready, open the door and make your way down the stairs. There
are normally one or a few zombies right at the bottom, shoot them and take them
out.
Now when you go into the Kitchen/Living Room area, there tend to be quite a
few zombies. Just simply lay waste to them all and continue to push forward.
NOTE: If you try and just sit back, first off that will not get you done with
the level, and secondly the game tends to just throw a wave of the Horde at
you as punishment for being a chicken.
Now, as you leave the Living Room, there is a door directly to the left of
you. Head down those stairs. Now simply make your way through the Hallway,
Kitchen, Living Room of Apartment A. Then very quickly through what possibly
used to be a Bedroom and Living Room of this apartment till you get to a large
hole in the Kitchen floor.
NOTE: More often then not, there tends to be a bottle of PAIN PILLS in the
pantry on the other side of the hole. To get across simply jump over the hole
and if you make it check to see if it did spawn in there for you this time.
It is now time for you to jump down the hole. As I have played through this
level a few times I have noticed one common thread through it. There tends to
be a wave of lovely Infected who want to eat you that flood the room and flood
it quickly. So, just make sure you are prepared to defend yourself from them
at this point.
After you survived the Horde, make your way through the newly made whole in
the wall and head to the door to the left. Now that you are in the alleyway,
just pick of the Infected that you see scuttling around before they see you,
making your way further down.
Make your way for the burning barrel ahead of you and take a Left at the
intersection shortly ahead.
NOTE: A few times there is a second pistol on the trunk of the White Car. If
you happen to see it, make sure to grab it for these simple two reasons. First,
it makes you look cool by shooting Infected with two guns at the same time.
Secondly, if you happened to get incapacitated it makes you not completely
useless as your team tries and revives you.
When you make it to the actual Street itself, just be a little cautious as
the game will send a horde your way at some point along it. I have found that
jumping onto a car tends to make it easier on you, as the Infected take a
little longer getting to you compared to if you were standing on the Street.
Follow the Street as it curves to the Right and then to the Left.
NOTE: You will see an Orange Car, that has a little Alarm Light, just flashing
almost begging to be shot at or jumped on. However, no matter how tempting
that is to do, DO NOT do that, unless your entire Team agrees to fight off
the Horde that will be coming at you. Now, if you happen to shoot at or Jump
on. Having two Molotov Cocktails would be great, just back into the corner,
behind the white van and throw them at the sides of it. This will make
fighting what remains of the Horde, so much easier.
After, you pass the Orange Car, just duck into the Subway Station’s Entry Way
and head down the stairs. Go to through the only opening to the right and
shoot any Infected that might be between you and the Safe House Door in that
room. As soon as everyone is inside CLOSE the DOOR to the finish the Chapter.
NOTE: If you decide not to close the door, again the game punishes you by
sending a wave of the Horde at you and yes, it will probably be easy seeing
as they have to bottle their way through the door. However, it could prove to
be too much if for some reason the rest of the survivors died and you are
the only one that remains.
Chapter 2: The Subway
At the beginning before you open up the door, make sure to heal if you are in
the RED or the YELLOW. Also, if you want to switch weapons you can, or simply
just get more ammunition. Again, when everyone is ready head through the door
and shoot all the Infected that you see.
Jump down the hole, turn around and kill the ones that are scuttling all
around behind you before moving on. You would not want some sneaky bastard
coming up from behind you now would you?
At this point you could split into two teams, one take the High Road and the
other take the Low Road and you will both meet up together again soon enough.
The Higher route, tends to have some kind of EXPLOSIVE right before the small
drop into the vent below. So, just make sure you grab that to use for later,
again killing all the minor Infected around. Drop down into the vent, head out
onto the stairs and go down to the left to the top of the escalators.
The Low Road team, will just have to head down the stairs, and move a little
to the Right to be at the top of the escalators. The only reason that I would
even suggest splitting up at this small point, would be to clear the area of
all Infected before moving on.
Go down the escalators and quickly check inside the Ticket Booths. Most often
there is either a PISTOL, if you don’t already have duel, and occasionally a
PIPE BOMB or MOLOTOV COCKTAIL inside on the floor. Also, if you are really
lucky the Second Tier of weapons will be on the table in front of one of the
Booths.
After you dealt with any Infected that decided to try and rush you, head to
the left of the escalators and up either side of the Stairs. Just make sure
that you stick together.
Once at the top of the stairs/escalator make a 180 degree turn, and make your
way to the tunnel ahead past the Subway Cars.
NOTES: You will encounter a Witch and a Tank at some point in this level,
starting normally around the time that you walk through the first tunnel all
the way till close to the end of the Chapter. So, just be ready and remember
what to do when you encounter one or the other.
As you go through the tunnel you should see some burning wreckage to the
right, just continue to push forward, further down the tunnel clearing any
and all Infected that you encounter. To the right of the Subway Cars near
the fire, there should be a Table, and on that table is normally at least
Ammunition. The reason is because there tends to be either a Tank or a
mini-Horde soon enough afterwards. So take the quick second it takes and
restock up your ammo.
There is a little corner against the wall across from the table, check
that spot for either a PIPE BOMB or a MOLOTOV COCKTAIL and then continue
heading deeper into the tunnel. There is a fork in the road so take the
right path to the Subway Cars ahead and enter them.
After exiting from the two Subway Cars, move to the table near the door
to the Left. There should be at least a single FIRST AID KIT and possibly
the Second Tier of weapons if you have not gotten them yet in the Chapter. The
room to the Right occasionally has a couple PIPE BOMBS, so make sure to check
it because they will come in handy soon enough and will make the few seconds
that it took to look all worth it. Now, go back to the other side of the
tracks and through the door. Move cautiously because right at the top of the
stairs is a perfect place for a BOOMER to spew it’s BILE all over you to
attract the Horde.
Go through the door way, also before I go any further if you have not fought
the TANK prior to this moment you will right here about 75% of the time. There
is only one other place that I have fought the TANK and I will make a note of
that when I get to it. When fighting the TANK, this area makes it really easy
though, just move back spraying it continuously with BULLETS, from either the
ASSAULT RIFLE or the AUTOMATIC SHOTGUN and it should go down with ease while
you take minimal damage.
Once you have dealt with all the Infected, or the Tank. Move to the door at
the other side of the room and head up the stairs. Once you go through the
doorway you will see quite a few MOLOTOV COCKTAILS, if you don’t have any
explosives take one for it will make this next part easier.
At this point, the games makes a note to go open the door, but before you
do that, just clear the entire room of any Infected and make sure to stock up
on Weapons and Items before you do. Also, if playing with other people and
not just the AI, make sure to have someone take control of the Turret with
one watching their back.
Once you are ready, go flip the switch and get ready to defend yourselves for
the oncoming Horde. Once you have dealt with all of the Horde, make your way
through the door that just had to make all of that noise.
NOTE: If for some reason you have not fought the TANK by now you will at this
point. In the Stairs he will come stomping down, but it should be more then
easy enough to take care of that Brute here.
Head up the stairs and go through the doors ahead of you. Stock up on
ammunition and if you want, switch to one of the other weapons that are in
the Steel locker against the wall. Move through the door that has the EXIT
sign glowing above it and move to the left and left again.
Now, head down the stairwell heading to the Orange-ish wall in front then
take another left toward the Reception Area. Barge through the Building’s
Front doors and out onto the Street. Once you are out and on the street,
head to the Pawn Shop down the street and to the right.
NOTE: I am sorry, I forgot about this one time that I actually had to fight
the TANK right before the Safe House. So…if for some random reason you have
not fought the TANK by now, then this is the last chance that he will have
to pop up to try and kill your group of Survivors. Also, there is either a
Pink or Orange Car right in front of the Pawn Shop that if hit will alert
the Horde of your Location. If you are fighting the TANK, I would make sure
to avoid hitting this Car at all costs.
After you cleared the street of all Infected, just stroll on into the Pawn
Shop and move into the safe house that is just on the other side of the
counter. Close the door once everyone has entered the building and that is
the of the Chapter.
Chapter 3: The Sewer
Once again, make sure to stock up on ammunition and HEALTH KITS. DO NOT
however, switch out your better weapons for either the PUMP-ACTION SHOTGUN or
the SUBMACHINE GUN. That would be a complete waste. Also again, when everyone
is healed, stocked, clocked and ready to rock open the door and head
immediately to the left.
At the end of the little jog, you should see a doorway to the right a little
that is the door that you want to head through. Move through it and head into
the Diner.
NOTE: If you happen to be unlucky like I happened to be on my last play
through of this Chapter, you will hear the all telling signs of the Witch and
her crying at this point. I say that you are unlucky because of the fact that
you will more then likely disturb her because of the amount of Infected that
will be coming at you once you leave the Diner. Not even all that many, but
there are just too many ways for you to disturb her crying session.
Exit the Diner and move towards the right. You will see a Gas Station. Please,
avoid being a jackass and shooting at the Station when your Teammates are near
it. Plus the simple fact that it will be a Horde your way because of the
lovely sound that it makes. If you have to, just make a beeline for the Lift
that is to the Left of the Gas Station. Also, try to make sure that all of the
Survivors are on it before activating it. Otherwise, the person/people that
were not on it beforehand might not be alive too much longer.
Once activated, the Lift will alert the Horde and send them to you from every
which way. From above, below and every other way that they can get to you
they will. So, once the lift stops, just start shooting your way across the
building toward the one ahead of you. Also note, to be careful of any Smokers
that are below you. If snagged by their tongue, you will more then surely die,
unless of course your Team actually are able to help you.
Now when you enter the other building just make sure to kill all the Infected
that you can before proceeding down through the hole in the floor to the
level beneath you. There you will be able to stock up on PILLS and ammo. Also,
sometimes the room to the left has a couple of PIPE BOMBS for your disposal.
After you stocked up head through the doorway next to the FIRST AID cabinet
and follow the hallway. There are two different paths that you can take at
this point. Either you can head down the stairs or move a little further down
the Hall. No matter what you choose you will end up in the Warehouse. I would
suggest that you head further down the Hallway so you have the advantage of
being able to see most of the Infected that are in the Warehouse before you
go barging in.
So, if you move down the stairs, they are to the right and all you have to do
is make a quick left and right to be inside of the Warehouse. If you chose to
go the other way, no matter what room you go through just break a window and
hop down. As another bonus, most of the rooms tend to have other items for
you to use as you kill you way to being Rescued.
NOTE: This tends to be the most common place for you to have to fight the TANK.
If you must you must right. Yes, but make sure to kill the beast before he
has a chance to throw the Forklift at you. If he does that is an automatic
down. In other words, you are pretty screwed, especially if you were grouped
together.
Just make your way to the other side of the Warehouse and go through the
doorway. Make a sharp right and head directly to the hallway at the other end.
Take the Left, the only way that you can go, to the stairs at the far end.
Bounce down them like you do not have a care in the world, killing all the
Infected as you go. If there happens to be any that is.
Go through the doorway, guns blazing shooting everything that moves even a
little. Now, there are two different ways into the sewers from here. Directly
ahead of you the other is to the right through an itty bitty hall with a red
light.
NOTE: It does not matter which way that you decide to take, however, I will
be discussing what you have to do if you choose the one that was just ahead
of you, and will eventually add in what to do if you choose the other route.
Once you drop through the manhole, you will land some piping. If you had
recently popped the BOOMER, use that to shoot the Infected that you see down
below you. If you have not then I would suggest jumping down and quickly kill
them all, just in case the friendly neighborhood BOOMER decides to either
give you a shower or drop down next to you.
At the T intersection, move to the right and then at the end of that little
stint up the incline to the left. At the top of the little hill take another
left continuing to fight the Infected.
NOTE: At some point while down in the sewers you will be hit by the Horde at
least one time as long as they don’t come at you from both sides it will be
more then easy to just mow them all down.
Now, you should be seeing a doorway on the right side within a few moments
of moving down this tunnel. Enter that door and stock up on ammunition
before moving into the vent ahead of you with the red light.
NOTE: This has happened once before so it may very well happen to you now.
If you happen to stumble upon the Witch in this tunnel, especially if she is
just crying there at the intersection you are more likely to be screwed in a
way no one would ever want to be. So, just form two lines, with two of the
members crouching down in front and the other two standing behind them and
just shoot her till she drops dead.
Just proceed straight and head to the right after you leave that small vent
like part in the wall of the sewer. Shoot your way up the incline until you
get to the RED LADDER that will be on the left side of the sewers. Head up
the ladder to the street above.
If you are the first one up, lay down suppressing fire until the rest of
your group can join you. Then head directly into the hospital, you will more
then likely have to shoot your way in, but then again isn’t that what we like
to do?
Jump over the counter moving through the door to the safe house. Once
everyone is inside close the door to finish the Chapter.
Chapter 4: The Hospital
Can anyone guess what you should do first this time? Come on class, have you
not been paying any attention at all? Yes, Johnny? That is the right answer,
you will be stocking up on ammunition and health. Also class, remember to
give enough time for your entire group to collect their supplies, otherwise
you may not survive the oncoming Infected.
So, after you stock up go and open up the door. Head up the stairs and make
a quick right turn. Pass by the Exam rooms and the hallways with “Mercy
Hospital” painted on the wall. Just a little past that there should be a
doorway on the right hand side, go through the door and up the stairs.
Now head through the door at the top of the stairs and turn left. Immediately
after turning make another left through the doorway there. This will lead
you to what I would assume would be a reception hall. Move to the right
through the hall till you see more stairs and head up them.
NOTE: This is a favorite place for the game to through a mess of Infected at
you as well as occasionally having a witch either in the bathrooms or
sometimes up the stairs in that hallway there. More often then not if the
game gives you a witch here she will be either in the in bathrooms or near
the water on the floor.
Go through the little Cafeteria and push forward. You will see yet another
set of stairs to the right, so...yes that is right you will head through the
door and further up the bowels of the hospital.
Again, once you climb the flight of stairs you will make a right turn heading
to Nurse Station 3. Once there you should push through to the doors on the
opposite side of the room. Open them and kill all the Infected that you see.
Move down the hall until you get to the 4-way intersection. Beware of
oncoming traffic from either side and make a right turn. Move quickly, but
also make sure you are killing all the little Infected people along the way
to make the next part just a tad easier.
Now you will have to jump over a mini-barricade at the end of the hall. Who
is this meant to stop? I mean it looks like a child could easily get over it
am I right? Anyways, after you jump over it with ease take an immediate left
turn. You should be able to see the elevator now. Stock up on ammunition and
anything else that may be right around you. If you need to heal make sure
you do it before pushing the button.
The game will then give you a warm welcome to hospital by throwing a wave of
Horde at you for about a minute, minute and a half. Just hold them off and
once the elevator doors open move inside quickly. Yes, even if there are
still Infected coming. As everyone climbs aboard your new vertical lift, hit
the button to get it moving.
NOTE: Both in Campaign play and Multiplayer the “Special” Infected like to
hang on top of your shiny box. I have yet to determine if it is because you
are in it, or if it is just because it is so shiny.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it would be a good thing to collect some
ammunition before entering the box. Also, take the time to heal and reload.
It is just wise to do so.
NOTE: If you have not seen the Witch or the TANK by now, the game will
probably be throwing them both at you very soon. So, do not just rushing
blindly through the last little stint before the safe room.
Exit the elevator and move forward, going through the “doorway” to the left.
NOTE: Beware of the sides of the uncompleted building. You can fall off
and die especially if a TANK just so happens to make you go flying. However,
if just the Horde or something else hits you off, you will more the likely
be holding onto the side for a while. So, hopefully a teammate will be able
to get to you before you fall to your death.
Pass through the other door that is like 8 feet ahead of you and make a right
turn. You will head through yet another doorway in about another 2-3 seconds.
Proceed through it and again make a right turn. Move between the forklift and
the pillar. Continue to move straight and near the end of the “hallway” you
will make a quick left and then right turn.
Now, do not go through the “doorway” move to the right and then make another
turn to the left. Go through the closed doorway, if you are the first one
through it, and then a right through the opening in the “wall”.
NOTE: A BOOMER tends to be around this area and may very well splash you in
its sweet bubble bath...I mean disgusting vomit. So either be ready to knock
it back and then shoot it, or just be prepared to fight the Horde that will
be coming after only you.
Now, I had to do this next part in a hurry so if my directions are a bit off
I am sorry. I was simply running through all the Infected and the TANK that
was chasing me. Head through go through the doors, yes doors, there are many
and should be easily seen. Until you see an almost completed room. Follow
along the side of the room, DO NOT go in it, for it will just lead you to a
dead end. You will be making a right and then a left turn during this part.
After you get that far you will then have to make a Left, Left and if I
remember correctly a final Left turn. The wall right before the Safe House
will have a little spray paint on the wall that says, “-will get this later
for you all-”. Close the door while you wait for everyone else to catch up
this way you will not be killed by anything.
Once either everyone else is dead or in the room with you, close the door
again to finish the Chapter.
Chapter 5: Rooftop Finale
Finally, the Finale has arrived. Heal and then stock up on both ammunition
and HEALTH KITS. Again, make sure that everyone is stocked up completely. I
am sorry but I cannot stress that enough. Especially after playing so many
rounds of Versus and having this stupid noobs running out through the door
before everyone was ready. To add to their own stupidity they usually ran
out with collecting their HEALTH KIT, or one of the explosives on the table.
Head out the door and up the stairs shooting all the Infected as you do.
Once at the top of the stairs and through the door, simply shoot your way
down the hall. Near the end you should be able to see a door and a vent to
the left. The doors you will not be able to go through, so shoot the vent
and go through it.
Go around the side of the hole to the ladder. Climb it and turn a little to
the left and climb the second ladder. This one will take you to the rooftop
of the hospital. Before dropping down make sure to shoot all the Infected.
As this will make it easier to proceed. Also, if there is one person still
on the rooftop DO NOT drop down. For if they would be attacked at that point
there is no way to get back up to help them and you will be down a person.
Now, move as a single unit to the small building down the ramps with the
searchlights moving. Once inside quickly stock up and heal if you need to
before answering the radio.
NOTE: Seeing as this should be your first Finale, I want to warn you that
they all seem to have exactly 4 waves before you are able to be rescued. I
will go into detail with each one separately.
Upon answering the radio a second time that is when the real fun of this
level begins.
Wave 1 will consist of the Horde as well as the regular SMOKERS, HUNTERS and
BOOMERS. Have two people go to the rooftop one on the mounted chain gun and
one protecting them. Two people can stay on the ground floor and shoot any
that happen to get past the one that is on the chain gun. This should go
fairly easy it is really nothing that you have not gone up against before.
Re-stock your ammo and quickly heal before the second wave begins, I would
recommend healing if you are even at half life, should this be your first
time.
Wave 2 will consist basically anything that you had not killed from the
first wave as well as a few more Infected, including a wonderful, handsome
TANK. Just group together and shoot the hell out of the big guy and he will
drop in no time at all. If the TANK happens to knock anyone to the edge I
would definitely recommend helping them back to their feet before the end of
the TANK’s life.
Once again simply re-stock your supplies and ready yourself for Wave 3.
Wave 3 will consist of the same exact thing as Wave 1. So I would suggest
either doing the same thing as you did in Wave 1, or group together on the
building that you are able to reach by crossing the pipes that connect to
the roof above the radio.
Once again, as Wave 4 begins you will hear the familiar music of the TANK
start up. Once you hear that make sure you find out where the big brute is
and just start emptying your clips into him. Once he drops head to the broken
roof above the ramps. That is where your rescue will be picking you up. No
matter what happens YOU need to get there. Even if means leaving everyone
else to die. As long you get there you will win.
As Wave 4 ends, the technical 5th Wave will begin. This is one that you do
not have to fight so I will not include it. However, it consists of
everything that Waves 1-3 had in them. A horde in mass, BOOMERS, HUNTERS,
SMOKERS and yes even a TANK. Just run up the ramp and hold that position
until the Helicopter gets there. Once it does hop into it and continue to
empty clips at all the Infected that are headed directly for everyone that
is alive.
Now you will see the credits roll should you live. Oh my god! It was a
movie? I thought this was a game...whatever, in the credits you will be
able to see all of your various scores and where you placed in them. Take
a break and stretch, for this was the easiest of the 4 Campaigns.
Campaign – Death Toll
Chapter 1: The Turnpike
Okay, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you Campaign number 2. By now you should
know how it starts out, but if not let recap for you. For a different scene
of environment, it would appear that you and your fellow Survivors decided
to try and book it out of the city for reports of the Army holding out in
Riverdale.
As you start, the HEALTH KITS, AMMUNITION and PUMP-ACTION SHOTGUN/SUBMACHINE
GUN are pretty much directly in front of you. Select your choice of weapon
and make sure to grab your HEALTH KIT then make your way forward.
After running a short distance you will notice that the bridge is knocked
out, and one of the Survivors will make a note that you need to find a way
across. Go down either side of the bridge. That will take you downhill and
what possibly used to be a river. At the other side, no matter if you chose
to go down the left or the right, you will see a ladder, just climb up and
wait for the others to join you.
Now make your way to tunnel being sure to be careful of any BOOMERS, SMOKERS
and HUNTERS that may be around.
NOTE: The SMOKERS seem to really love hiding out in the forest during this
Campaign and will most likely get you should you not be careful enough.
However, on the lower difficulties this really should not be a problem,
unless of course you ran so far ahead of your teammates.
About 5 seconds of running into the tunnel you should see a hole in the
wall. You will have to go in there because the main way is blocked. (Or
apparently so says the AI, when playing single player.)
Just make a quick right turn and then another once you reach the end of the
very short hallway. Once again you are back in the tunnel you will very
apparently have to go to the left, unless you do want to head backwards of
course. Jump on top of the cars that are blocking your way to proceed.
NOTE: I suggest jumping from car to car for as long as you can, should this
be one of the points where the game decides to throw the horde at you. It is
really easy to defend your spot when they all have to climb up to get at you.
Your next turn to make will be where you can see the fence cutting off your
path forward. The door you need to go through will be on the left wall.
Enter the open door and then make a right. Once you have worked your way
down all the stairs, pick a door and go through it.
Now work your way around the steel grate floor to get to the stairs that
lead you back above ground on the other side.
NOTE: For the majority of the time. The part below the steel grate floor
there tends to be either MOLOTOV COCKTAILS and or PIPE BOMBS. So just a
simple suggestion make the very quick trip and look to see if there are any,
that is if you do not already have one.
Yes, you have finally gotten back to the fresh air and no longer have to
breathe that stuffy tunnel air. Now what do you do? Well, you could have a
picnic. It is a lovely location for a date with Zoey after all. However,
with all the dead roaming the area and still wanting to kill you I would
suggest that you move forward.
After you move toward the dead end, make a gentle left turn up the hill and
push forward through the remaining Infected that are blocking your path to
the safe house.
Now all the remains is opening the door and quickly closing it on everyone...
I mean closing it after everyone has made it to the safety of the shelter.
Chapter 2: The Drains
Quickly stock up, heal and take whatever supplies that you need before
moving toward the doorway.
NOTE: I just realized that I have never said this before in any of the
previous Chapters. Before you go and open the door. Selects your pistol(s)
and shoot all the Infected that you see. It will make it a little easier
instead of being ambushed when you barely did anything.
At this point in the level there is a choice of two ways to proceed. Either
you can go straight from the door through that tunnel, or you can choose to
move along the right a bit and go through that tunnel. Both paths end of
taking you to the same place, however, you may find one a little easier then
the other.
NOTE: Oh jeez, so you decided to go toward the right. Well good, this is
what has been called the “easier” path by many gamers. The area that both
paths lead to; tend to be one of the main locations of where the game throws
a TANK toward you and this path does give you a little more room to maneuver
away from his swings. Especially if you happen to already be at what I call
the “Circle Room”.
Head straight until you can make a left. Once you reach the end of this
path, you will be dropping down in the “Circle Room”. (Obviously named
because it is in fact a room that is in the shape of a circle.) Once you
clear the immediate area of any and all Infected that you see. Move toward
the left, of where you dropped down until you come across a ladder. Slide or
climb down it, but please do not trying jumping down from where you are.
Once you reach the bottom you will no matter what be given more ammunition,
if not given the Second Tier of Weapons and even more rarely other items.
NOTE: Oh my god you chose to go straight. You certainly are a brave soul
aren’t you? There are some gamers that call this path the “harder” of the
two and actually for good reason. The area that both paths lead to; tend to
be one of the main locations of where the game throws a TANK toward you and
this path does not really give you that much room to maneuver away from his
swings.
-insert Path #1 here-
Head straight into the next tunnel after you re-stocked up on everything
that you could. You will then be having to make a right turn. Before dropping
down into the next area, it should be obvious that it would be for the best
to kill everything that is already down there waiting to be disturbed.
After, you are done having your fun killing all of those that used to be
living breathing people. Climb down the ladder and head to the right. Keep
moving until you find yet another ladder to climb to head up to the floor
right above you.
Now the moment you get the to the higher level, if not a little before, you
will be prompted to active the switch to lower the floodgates to make a
pathway for you. Before doing so though, I would suggest stocking up on the
PIPE BOMBS on the crate in the corner. Once you hit that switch two “waves”
the horde will be coming at you.
These are easily dispatched, so once you have done that move across your
newly created bridge to the other side of the room. Once there, make the
left turn to head up the stairs, or enter the room and get the PAIN PILLS
that should be in the First Aid Cabinet.
Make a right turn at either the first or the second branches. The both take
you to the same room. One is just a little more roundabout way of getting
there than the other.
Now when you get to the room, you can go up the ladder in the first room, or
go to the room right behind it and climb up the hanging metal that is
attached to the upper floor.
NOTE: The second floor is closer to the outside, where you have to go and is
a better option to go instead of the first room. I have seen this happen on
more then one occasion. The Survivors start to climb up the ladder when the
TANK comes and literally falls on top of them, killing them, not knocking
them down, but actually killing them.
When you climb through the window and get outside, if you have not already
fought the TANK be prepared to, and this is one of the more dangerous areas
to fight him, because of all the cars in the area that he can throw at you.
If you really have to, just run, making a beeline to the building across
from you and straight into the Safe House within it. If you can take your
time though, kill everything you see and just leisurely stroll into your
room for the night.
Chapter 3: The Church
Once again, heal and stock up on supplies. The last one was a walk in the
park compared to the ones ahead. When you have killed all the Infected that
you can see, open the door and start to make your way straight ahead of you.
NOTE: In this Chapter, beware of the SMOKERS hiding on top of the train cars.
As sometimes the AI are not quite quick enough to react to you being
strangled by a wet tongue from an enemy that has quite a smoker’s cough.
Once you get to where you can see the building ahead, make your way to the
left side, so you will be able to climb the stairs to your next destination.
After you little workout, head straight and onto the roofs of the train cars
at the end. A Horde may be prompted at this point to come and swarm around
you, but do not worry at all. It is so easy to kill them all without taking
any damage.
Now, drop down and head off to the right. Head straight, along the road
until you come across a “safe house”.
NOTE: I said “Safe House” because one, it is not THE Safe House, and two, I
have run into the TANK more than a few times right at this location. It does
however, have a few supplies inside which make fighting the TANK all that
much more worth it. *pfft*
After you made a quick sweep of the house and gathered what you wanted, or I
should say, gathered what you actually could. Head out the back door and take
a left turn until you hit a road then you will have to take a right turn and
just follow it.
You should be seeing a Cemetery to the left after the Ambulance. Move in that
direction and put the Infected into their graves heading to the Church up the
slight incline.
In this Chapter, they decide to test just how much you really want in the
Safe House. So before you go to kindly ask the guy inside it to let you in,
make sure you stock up on anything that is nearby.
Once you are ready then you may go and ask him to open the door. He decides
to be a complete prick and not let you inside his little hidey-hole for the
night and rings the Church’s bell, alerting all Infected within Earshot that
dinner is served.
NOTE: If you place the 4 gasoline tanks that you find laying around in Key
locations, three to the front and one on the side, that will more then likely
take care of 65% of the Infected that decide to try and get the meal that
the bell promises.
All you have to do is killed the Horde that comes to kill you and there is
nothing too special about it besides the pure number that come. Right at the
end our “buddy” gets killed by a Hunter, so just shoot it once you open the
door or you may very well be joining him soon enough.
After you killed the unexpected guest, climb into your new hidey-hole and
close the gate, thus ending Chapter 3, Campaign 2.
Chapter 4: The Town
NOTE: Oh my god a note in the beginning it must be important. Well, kind of
is and kind of isn’t really. I just wanted to let those new to this level
know, that before proceeding it is very easy to get a headshot on every last
Infected that you see on the streets below you. Also, it is the single best
way to avoid being slaughtered in the first few minutes as well. Just grab
the Hunting Rifle on the Table, zoom in and pop all the heads that you see.
Now that you are hopefully done clearing the streets of the walking dead,
climb down either ladder to the sides of you, or just drop off the front.
Move to the right, it is the easier part of the street to defend against a
Horde if you really need to in a few moments.
Walk through the broken down brick fence and now that you are in the streets
start making your way to the Straight a little to the left. Your goal is the
alleyway behind the Gas Station.
Run through the alleyway till you get to this part of the street. Now make a
left turn and head down until you are on the other side of the bus that was
blocking your way from before. Mow down all the Infected to your right as you
run down the street, following it until you get to a Poppy Field’s Floral
Shop. There you will see an open door. Head into it.
Head through the first door to the right and then the one to the left leading
you back out into the town. Follow the road past the Semi-Truck with its
lights on.
NOTE: Nothing important this time, more just curiosity. Let’s assume this is
still two weeks after the infection started. How would the batteries in any
car still have enough power to leave the lights on. I mean, I do know they
last for a long time. But, assuming they had regular usage before the
Infection, plus two straight weeks of being left on. How would they still
have power?
Right after the Semi, make another right turn into the parking lot of some
building establishment. Move toward the White Van in the back left corner.
Hop on top of the van and then on top the building’s first story roof.
Go through the patio’s doorway and straight into the next room, killing all
the Infected that are within. Now, you will have to head out through the
windows and jump onto the ramp like walkway below. Stay on the walkway and
head to the right.
After killing all the mindless Infected below you, drop down and gather up
some ammunition or swap weapons if you want to. You will be needing to
activate the Forklift to make another walkway for you. Can you guess what
will be coming up?
That’s right! Time for another Horde that you are forced to fight against.
The item the forklift was lowering makes a thump and ends up making a good
enough rumble for a car’s alarm to go off. We have all the luck don’t we?
Just defend yourselves, again it should be really easy especially if you or
another Survivor is on the Turret. Just make sure that someone watches their
back so they do not get attacked while making a blood mist with all the
Infected. The Horde will attack in two mini-waves, so just be prepared for
that.
Once all lay dead in their own blood, walk onto your new pathway and head to
the end of it. Drop down at the end, go to the right around the bus that is
in your way and then make a left turn into another alleyway.
Alright, you are in the final stretch. Now, just make a left turn heading
down that path. A little ways down there you should see a set of stairs on
your left. Head up along them and into the building to your left there.
Break through one of the windows and cross over the little wooden planks to
the building on the other side of the alley. Now, climb out these next
windows and head over to yet another building.
You will notice that you cannot enter this one. Did I happen to lead you to
a dead end? No, just go to your left and drop down, you will now be on the
other side of the fence and now all you have to do is head into the Safe
House at the end of the alley.
Now kids, be sure to play nice and you better be in your sleeping bags no
later then 9 o’clock tonight. You have an early morning tomorrow.
Chapter 5: Boathouse Finale
Final time everyone I promise you...at least for this Campaign. Re-stock your
supplies and ammunition, you are finally one the last Chapter to being
rescued. Once again, shoot any of the Infected that you can possibly see
through the little bars of your cell. When all are down, move out. Head
toward the door that you see right in front of you and then through the one
directly in front of you on the opposite side of the room. Open the door and
head out onto the street.
You should easily be able to see the house with the searchlight on the roof.
That is where you want to get to. Quickly and thoroughly kill all the
Infected in front of the house before going inside. The TANK can be seen at
any point between now and the final house that have you go into for this
Chapter.
Once you get inside, look for anything that you may be missing from your
supplies and then head carefully out the back.
NOTE: Not only will you be having to deal with the TANK at any point, but
also the Witch, if she happened to spawn in part of the path that you must go
through to get to the end.
Now that you are in someone’s backyard, head out of their gate and into the
open field. Yes, looks very much like a great place for something to ambush
you at doesn’t it?
Deal with anything that the game decides to send your way and head to the
cars off to the left side of the field. Pass between them and into Riverside
Park. Yay, another hike through the woods!
Follow the pathway until you see like a place where a family used to be able
to sit down and eat, while getting out of the sunlight. When you get there
just turn to the left and head to the house that you see there. You should
also be hearing a radio broadcast for anyone to pick up if they hear it. DO
NOT answer it yet...well, if you did seriously do not summon the rescue yet.
Quickly gather up MOLOTOV COCKTAILS and PIPE BOMBS that you find scattered
around the place before someone summons the rescue. Once they do that you
will have 4 waves to deal with before you are able to board the boat that
will be coming.
Wave One: The first wave should be able to easily be taken down from the
rooftop of the house. Wait about 8-15 seconds after you hear the scream of
the Horde and then throw a PIPE BOMB toward the picnic shade area you had to
pass to get to the house and after that one explodes taking out any Infected
that gathered around it, like a moth to the flame, toss another one in about
another 5 seconds a little to the right of the front of the house.
Wave Two: Consists basically of any Infected that remain from Wave One and a
new and healthy TANK. With the combined efforts of the Survivors and with
having plenty of room to move about, it really should not pose that big of a
problem.
Wave Three: Same thing as Wave One, except this time I am assuming that you
either used all the PIPE BOMBS or have only about one left. So, take the
MOLOTOV COCKTAILS and toss one, after about 7-9 seconds right in front of
the main doorway and one to the right of the house. Make the second one a
little closer to the woods. This will take care of most of the Infected. You
will still have a some if not maybe half to deal with so go back into the
house, the top floor and back up into the corner away from all the openings
in the building. Very easy to defend yourself in and also will allow you you
jump out of the room for Wave Four.
Wave Four: Last real wave to go, all you have to do is take out yet another
TANK. It is easier then it sounds as long as you do not get snagged by a
frickin’ SMOKER. If you do, well you better hope your teammates can get to
you.
After you have lived through all four waves, make your way to the dock before
the technical fifth wave starts. Once you are there, if you have a PIPE BOMB
or a MOLOTOV COCKTAIL toss it once you see enough of the Infected. Toss the
PIPE BOMB as far away from you as possible, or toss the MOLOTOV COCKTAIL at
the entrance to the dock.
Board the boat when it gets there and help the others get on as well by
shooting anything that is keeping them from getting rescued.
Well done, you have now completed Campaign number 2, what do you want? A
cookie? A pat on the back? No, none of those will do. Join me in the 3rd
